Research on CBD and anxiety has generally looked at cannabis as a whole product, not as CBD as a standalone compound. Some studies suggest that it can help with anxiety: like this 2011 study that suggests CBDcan reduce social anxiety or this 2015 review that says CBD could be promising for many forms of anxiety. It’s also important to consider whether the CBD comes from the cannabis plant and therefore may include THC, a cannabinoid that for some, induces anxiety. Generalized pain, for instance, has dozens upon dozens of high profile research and clinical studies that have been carried out in universities and laboratories around the globe. One of the most well-publicized of these studies took place back in 2008, in which results determined that “cannabinoid analgesics (pain relievers) have generally been well tolerated in clinical trials … with acceptable adverse event profiles (meaning acceptable effectiveness for practical use).
[…] I have recently partnered with Elixinol through their affiliate program. Elixinol does a wonderful job of being transparent about their product lab results and side effects of CBD. On their site, you can find a great write-up on the side effects of CBD. […]

Cannabidiol hemp oil, or CBD hemp oil, is made from high-CBD and low-THC hemp, unlike medical marijuana derivatives that often contain high quantities of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD hemp oil, a natural botanical extract of the common hemp plant, is therefore non-psychoactive. And, whereas in the cannabis plant CBD is the second most abundant cannabinoid after THC; in hemp it dominates the cannabinoid makeup, as THC is found only in trace amounts. CBD’s myriad of health benefits, however, are still present.
Is CBD Legal? Marijuana-derived CBD products are illegal on the federal level, but are legal under some state laws. Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal on the federal level, but are still illegal under some state laws. Check your state's laws and those of anywhere you travel. Keep in mind that nonprescription CBD products are not FDA-approved, and may be inaccurately labeled.
Really interesting reading all of the comments. I started using hemp oil capsules about 5 weeks ago mainly to treat aches and pains. I feel though like i’ve been going slightly mad, this is virtually impossible for me to describe, although i’ve been extremely happy, jokey etc, like everyone in the world is my best friend, my mind though is not at all right, everywhere I’ve been including familiar places like my own home seem so different, I almost feel like I’m looking at myself from a distance, I wish I could explain it better but it’s impossible to do so. I’m just on another planet. I’ve had stomach problems and I’m really off food, I’ve always been a hungry guy but not at the moment. I’m sure this product is fantastic for most people but sadly it doesn’t seem to suit me, I took my last capsule this morning, it suddenly hit me that is was the hemp causing the change in me. I’ll see what happens in the next few days. best wishes to everyone, like I said, everyone is my best friend at the moment.
I woke up seriously looking forward to my morning CBD oil fix … I mean, tonic. Truth be told, I’m an anxious person. Although I do a lot to try and calm my nerves, sometimes anxiety gets the best of me. But regardless of emotional or physical stress (I’m training for a marathon and running quite a bit!), I experienced this week, I felt a lot more in control after drinking my CBD oil tonics. After work, I met up with a friend and felt like I could fully focus on our conversation without distractions. Could it be the CBD?
This article provides a wealth of practical information for the individual considering CBD as an adjunctive or alternative treatment for pain and or anxiety. CBD works in the body by manipulating receptors throughout organ tissues, the immune system, the pain response system, the hormonal system, and other systemic regulatory systems. While CBD oils have not been reviewed or approved by the FDA for the treatment of these conditions, a wealth of literature, both anecdotal and research-related now exists to help describe both their safety and effectiveness. As discussed in this article, the potential new adopter must be mindful of several important items. First, only those products that are sourced from Industrial Hemp will be considered legal in all states. One must be careful if the product you choose is sourced from the marijuana plant, as those products may contain THC levels above the legal limit in your given state. Secondly, all products are NOT created equal – they differ significantly in strength, absorption, and elimination by the body and in the manner in which they are formulated. One should be mindful of the differences in doses available for each of these products, starting at a low or moderate dose and increasing as needed in order to find the lowest dose that provides the desired relief. In this way, one can individualize usage to maximize effectiveness, while minimizing risk, a proper goal for the use of all medicinals.

Of course, though, they offer less potent oils than that, with a product lineup that ranges from 300 mg CBD per bottle to 4,000 mg. Naturally the 4,000 mg option is the most expensive (this is the one that provides the “bomb” 60 mg dose), as it currently sells for $299. For long-term pain and anxiety relief, though, it may be well worth it if it is effective for you and helps replace your regular meds.
I believe the itching could be from the CBD oil as i have heard this before but i have also heard that it can also be a reaction to the agent they mix the oil with. I too am taking CBD oil for pain from spinal surgery and no negative reactions so far and the benefits are incredible (no pain). There are now so many ways to take CBD’s that if one doesn’t seem to fit or has negative side effects, try another delivery option. Also, I would try changing the supplier and purchase only the best product that you can find or afford. I had a negative experience with one supplier where their product gave me a bad headache, I changed suppliers (little more expensive) and the headaches stopped.

Pain is one of the most elemental human experiences — every person alive will experience it at some point. And if you suffer from pain on a regular basis — whatever its source — you’ll know that it doesn’t take long to encounter the limits of pain medications. Everyone is looking for the magical cure that will take away their pain without replacing it with obnoxious, and even dangerous, side effects. I know this is gonna sound hilarious, but I am actually researching for a friend. Seriously, I’m a nurse in New York. My friend, age 73 and suffering from end stage copd. He’s on oxygen and tells me his O2 level has dropped in the 60’s — very dangerous levels. He has passed out before. Anyway, he has been taking CBD about a month and has little effects (positive or negative). He is slowly increasing the amount but is now experiencing “bad taste” for the past three days. As one who has never smoked or ingested CBD’s, I’m at a loss. Any suggestions?
Fill the dropper with the CBD oil, place the tip of the dropper under the tongue and drip in the desired amount. Let the CBD oil get adsorbed for 1-5 minutes before swallowing it. If you are having a hard time with the dosage or the number of drops when you drip it under your tongue, you can also use a spoon. Just put the desired amount of CBD oil on the spoon and try to put it under the tongue. Just lick off the remaining oil on the spoon. Due to the fine blood vessels and mucous membranes in the mouth, the CBD quickly enters the bloodstream and therefore has a good bioavailability.
The NCBI study does mention some potential side effects for cannabidiol, such as the inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism and decreased activity of p-glycoprotein. CBD can indeed interact with a series of pharmaceuticals, as it inhibits the activity of some liver enzymes called cytochrome P450. This family of enzymes metabolizes most of the pharmaceutical drugs used to treat humans.
The important thing is that you have to be SUPER careful when selecting CBD oils. Since the cannabis industry is not FDA-regulated, there have been dozens and dozens of companies trying to get away with selling very low quality (and even potentially toxic), “snake oils” that have been extracted using harsh chemical solvents like butane and hexane. Make sure you stay away from cheap products like these, as they could damage your health.
